Where Are They Now That We Don't Care Anymore?
Vanguard will apparently be a launch title for the XBox 360. Sadly, I already used my GNU HURD vaporware joke this week. Thankfully, Vanguard is Brad McQuaid's new game, so there's a wealth of other jokes I can use. But I'm lazy, so let's call this reader-designed humor. New XBox. Obviously premature launch. Brad McQuaid writes launch game. Go.
That Final Fantasy movie is apparently coming out. Remember it? And does anyone know if that retail price of $45 is normal for Japan? The depressing thing is that there probably are people who care about this game, so let me just say this. Square RPGs have derivative and obvious plots, tedious combat mechanics, and frustrating endgames that depend entirely on whether you're patient enough to go get the uber "I win" item. They are not great stories, they are not the best literature of the modern era, they are not actually very good. You only care about them because FF7 predated the big anime wave, and because there were three Final Fantasy games you never got to see. In truth, though, they kind of suck, and this movie will too. Just like Spirits Within.
Oh look, a Matrix game where you control Neo. I think this really captures the point of this feature well.
